About the Signs

110 West/12 South/140 South -- West Boylston
Western terminus at the split of routes 12 and 140. Many travelers errantly think the western end is at the junction with Mass 12 about a mile north of the intersection.

Leaving the center of West Boylston and the Western terminus of Mass 110. The 110 sign is marked "JCT", but the routes are co-signed for the next mile.

110 East/12 North/140 North -- West Boylston
Sign assembly showing routes multiplexed. Also interesting because it shows signs from different eras, with a modern sign above (black-on-white shields, no mileage, free-standing arrow) and an older sign below (no shield, mileage included, arrow through the route number).

110 West -- Clinton
This sign is an updated version of an old sign that was originally erected on this post  This sign orignally read "Worcester via 110 14 [Miles] Worcester via 70 13 [Miles]." This new version points to West Boylston along 110 instead of Worcester.

This was the old Northern terminus of Mass 70 before it was extended North through Lancaster to Mass 2. When 70 was lengthened, it was rerouted off High street and along Main Street with Mass 62

Clinton -- Chestnut and Water Streets
This assembly points to the multiplex of 6270, and 110 in the center of town. The 62 and 70 shields are first-generation metal shields ("Mass. Dept. of Public Works" at base). The bottom shield is an 18" (standard size at the time) wooden 110 shield that has nearly faded completely. You can barely make out the digits if you look closely.
